Jacinta Lane

Child Counsellor

My name is Jacinta, and I am the face behind Little Bear Child
Counselling. As well as being a mum of three children, including one
neurodivergent little one, I have extensive experience in counselling,
therapy models and education.

I have worked for years in Early Childhood, including a focus on
children with additional needs and those who have experienced trauma. My
areas of expertise include positive parenting, mindfulness and art
therapy. I have a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Psychology and also a
Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education and have worked for many
years with parents with mental health issues and those recovering from
Alcohol and other Substance Disorders. I adore working with children and
also creating solid, supportive relationships with their families. My
own personal experience as a mother means I have a direct understanding
and empathy for what parents experience, and this helps in my work
immensely.

My counselling approach is based on inclusion, kindness, honesty, and
empowerment. I place the child at the centre of their journey and guide
them through play-based care to be curious and inspired to become their
best authentic selves. My job is not to teach the child, but to learn
everything about them through our growing relationship. You will find
that I am always on the floor with the children – it is my first
priority to connect and bond with the children in my care and always let
them know they are important, capable and have a voice in their lives of
learning and play.
